Drawing Tablet

Tablet Test

I bought myself a drawing tablet and got around to installing the software today (it came two days ago). So far I’m really liking it, that picture above is my first try with it and I have to say what took only a few minutes on the tablet would have been so much longer in analog life (draw on paper, fine-line, scan, clean up, close lines, color). As a get used to it I think I will get better, until a few weeks from now when the bottle neck stops being the tablet and starts being my artistic abilities.

The plan is to start drawing cartoons again as well as other schematical (not a word? oh well) things to make life a little more visual.

Side note: I think I’ll stop posting the FlatWorldReport here as there is no sense in double posting it every time, just goto the main site. I’m going to try to do some more writing (like the piece below) and get cartoons as well as idea shows flowing.

Notes On Stuff

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

So first things first The FlatWorldReports right now, they’ve been shitty. I can do better and I haven’t been making a conscience effort to improve and it shows. I will not release another until it is shows marked improvement.

So far this involves:

  • Spending more time writing to get better ideas and a tighter script
  • Using more cuts, camera angles ect to keep the pace up, making the news snappier, and more engaging

Also I’m continuing working on some ideas shows and having fun with them. In case I forget to mention this later I want to say openly I’m heavily influences by ZeFrank in filming style [for the coming idea shows]. It makes it a lot easier to keep attention and compensates for having only one person (it almost feels like a conversation between people).

Anyways this is part update part manifesto so if I publicly say something it will make me work that much harder.

Two Jokes That Didn’t Work And FWR Delay

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Hey,

Flat World Report will come on the weekend. And two jokes I tested that didn’t work, and I liked them, to bad nobody else did.

All in video format

Exclaimable

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006
So today I launched a new product called exclaimable here is a quote for what it is:

Exclaimable is your chance to sound off using video, audio, pictures or text - in real time.
This is no uploading service; Exclaimable wants you to express your creativity here and now, using our built-in video and audio capture, painting and text composition tools. Then share it with the world by embedding it on your website, blog, profile or anywhere you like.

Here is a video I recorded just seconds ago for you about rice:

So yeah there’s the basic idea for my newest project. One of the best parts if you can embed your creations of audio pictures and text wherever you want eg myspace, facebook ect (similar to youtube).

What is the Mind Of A Moron

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

I’ve been struggling with direction for this blog, you may notice that I don’t tend to stick to things for very long. I guess that’s the point, I’ve finally realized what this blog should be called, it’s ‘my creativity blog’ its not about the finished product, but a breeding ground of ideas.

I know it’s been a while since the podcast, it kinda bored me it was becoming too much just my standup jokes (through it has helped me figure out what it workable), maybe that’s not a bad things just felt weird.

What I’m working on

  • I just finished filming the 0.2 FlatWorldReport
  • I think I’ll remix my spam song and make the recording better

What should I work on?

  • I used to do a lot of text post and rants, should I start doing those again or is the podcast better?
  • I haven’t done cartoons in so long should I do some?
  • Do I keep doing podcasts?

As a side note if anyone ever wants to do a podcast involved a bit of a banter and playing with ideas taking things way to far let me know as I think that would make a fun podcast, sorta like we present a grand idea then fine flaw in it then expand it and cover our tracks with foolproof (but idiotic logic)…we’ll call it politics (cheap shot)…

Upcoming Shows (Standup)

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

I thought I would post an update of what’s going on in my world of comedy.

Monday July 10th - Darbys: 2001 MacDonald St. (at 4th and MacDonald) at 9:30pm

Saturday July 15th - The Orange Room (this one is the finals of a contest, so I really need some people here) 620 - 6th Street, New Westminster - show at 8:30pm Edit I heard it’s a good idea to reserve for this one, visit the site for the phone #

Friday August 4th - Stages (Holiday Inn, Broadway & Heather) show at 10pm

So yeah it would be cool if some people came to each, Stages and Darby’s I’ve never been to before so it’s especially makes me good if I bring a few folks.

Side note: I’ve got three fine-lined cartoon I just need to scan and color them, should be up soon.

ps. Sorry there was no consistent formatting re the details of each show, I got lazy.

Ending Early C-A-D

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

I’ve decided to end the run of one a day cartoons, I’ll now publish at once per week probably.

I feel I did okay doing a run of ten. I sure you felt some weren’t up to par, but that’s the thing with the cartoons, I don’t to test them out before I publish them (well, maybe I could, but I don’t).

It basically came to a stand off between the pleasure from creating a cartoon and the effort to make one (my computer has been running slow, increasing the required effort as well).

So I’m curious to hear your favorite/duds:

My Favorites were: Watermelon, Blind, Evolution, and the Moon.

Alas I have some interesting ideas up my sleeve, expect to see some stuff soon.

I do other things too. (Announcing)

Edit: This became a long post sorry, another note GrabEvents is currently serving the Greater Vancouver market, we may expand in the future

Okay so I’ve been working on this project for a long long time and it is finally at the point where I am ready to show the world.

To put it simply I’ve been working on a system of event targeting. All you need to do is create a profile and then the system matches and ranks events to you in turn creating a weekly list of what’s happening that will be of interest to you. Simple, effective, and it takes a lot of the thinking out of doing which I love.

There are also a lot of other great features (goto the mainpage and roll your mouse over the name of an event) to explore but it’s all surrounded by the premise of the system finding events for you, thus the tagline ‘let entertainment find you’.

So what am I asking from you, well I’m asking, begging, or telling you to join (whichever produces the most effective results. Then I am asking that you let your friends know, email them, talk to them, I am confident that this is a valuable tool and everyone will enjoy it.

Now of course want to go beyond that, I have t-shirts, a whole flyer/poster campaign, cards, stickers, pins, and handbills all to promote with so I can toss some stuff your way if you’ll help. If you can get a good number of people to join there might just be a tshirt in it for you.

Want to be more involved (event submissions, heave promotions, partnerships, ect) email me at explosivo@gmail.com and we can make it happen.

Right now there is something like 300 events in the system and more being added all the time, so it’s also helpful if whenever you know of an event especially and obscure one to let me know, or submit it.

I have worked hard enough on this project, that I will without questions whore any relationship I have built with you in order to get you to join and tell people. Well okay I’m only slightly kidding.

So yeah I don’t really know what else to say except join, browse the site, tell people, and await your newsletter (or RSS) next Wednesday which will have a list of all the things happening that will entertain you.

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

The show tonight was awesome, it went over well with the crowd, and the coolest part was two previously unknown people to me stopped me on my way out and complimented my stuff as very original. So to them if they read this, “thank you” and please comment so I can give you a formal welcoming it really meant a lot to me. And to them (sorry I forgot your names) subscribe to this blog or newsletter and I will let you know what I do in the future.

World Domination Has Come To An End

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

Just a quick note World Domination Plans is over, I just havent been able to keep it up. I have redirected the feed for WPD to this site, The Mind Of A Moron

I will commemorate my attempts at World Domination Plans by showing one of my favorite postings from it. (From August 7th 2004)

Lemonade Stand

It was a hot sunny day, and there I was walking to the bank, when I came across a lemonade stand. Understandably thirsty, I bought a glass, well its was a paper cup. Nothing can be compared to how refreshing it was.

It then came to me if I was willing to pay $1 for some lemonade then others would be too. If I set up some sort of network of stands I could get rich, and even more so If I dump nicotine in the lemonade.

I bet you can guess my next move can’t you?

…I pulled a knife on little Susy and robbed her lemonade stand for an oh so sweet $14

In conclusion stealing is easy, especially from children.

Showtime

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

I’m going to be performing at a place called the Laughing Bean it’s not the greatest place seating only like 30. Last time I did this place it didn’t go too well (small crowd, some already heard my stuff, just wasn’t into it).

I don’t really expect anyone to come but figured I’d post it up, here are the details:

I¹ll be performing at the Laughing Bean Coffee Co., 2695 E Hastings, 2
blocks west of Renfrew on Friday Jan 13. Showtime is 8:00 pm. Seating
limited, please reserve at 604-251-5282

The Laughing Bean is a smoke-free environment that serves light dinners,
deserts and great coffees!

There is no cover charge, but you have to order a minimum of $3.00 of
coffee/dessert, etc.

Just for your info what I do is probably going to be 40% new the rest out of the mp3 (makes for a longer set with a few things dropped).

It also looks like I’ll have better thing lined up for next week which should be cool I’ll post about it later.
