Standup Video

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

So we had talent show at school I figured why not enter, stage time is stage time right?

It wasn’t really the best show, I was feeling sick so I wasn’t as animated as I should have been, and I did a few jokes I shouldn’t have done.

At least it’s a fun little clip to get you up to speed of how I spend my time.

(I think there is some profanity, just once or twice, not excessive, but you might want headphones)

More updates:

  • FWR is on hiatus, I’m going to try and focus on the idea show. It just hasn’t been getting the attention it should and I think I can use my time to create other better videos
  • I have a feeling a potential employer might be reading this so, “Hello”.

Standup Clip

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

It’s been a while since I’ve shown where I am so I figured I would post up a more recent audio clip of my standup. So here me have me standing, talking on a stage about a week ago.

I’ll just post it with the inpage player.

So yeah this isn’t the best show but it’s a taste of what I’m up to.

Other notes on what I’m up to:

  • I owe you a Flat World Report
  • I think I’m going to do a FWR Vancouver Edition
  • I still need to start my Idea show
  • As per the last post I’m going to look into starting a charity
  • I have about 10 more days of holi (it seems to me to say days of holidays is just redundant), so I better get cracking.

Not To Par

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Well I just got back from my set in the contest finals at the Orange Room, I didn’t place in the top three which disappointed me. I’m going to work on convincing myself I am capable of better and just didn’t deliver tonight. Sometimes I feel like I’m just to scripted and don’t have enough onstage persona.

As punishment/solution for a poor showing tonight (well wasn’t bad per-say, but I just didn’t do enough ass kicking to kickass) I’m going to try to write a minute of two of new material for tomorrows show at the media club to get myself back on my toes and a little more spur of the momentish.

What Didn’t Work Returns

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

I feel this overwhelming need to post, I guess it has been a long time my brain has been up to other (albeit related) tasks, I still have nothing to show for it though.

As you may or may not know I try to write a ton out each week, it actually comes to the point where I write more than I can test (I need to start trying to find more stage time.

But I thought I would share with you (as I used to) some of the jokes that didn’t really get pulled off well. The were done two weeks ago I believe, it was a small audience, so I might re-work and re-test but it’s sometimes hard to justify doing when my options are re-test something or try something new.

Anyways where is another edition of what didn’t work.

Fashions pisses me off, who buys jeans with holes in them, and pays an extra $20 to do so, here is my plan, I but some unfashionable jeans from zellers, give them to a homeless person with 5$ and say “wear these, I’ll pick em up in a few days”… not only is it cheap, it’s authentic.

We seem to always choose cute animals for pets and zoos, in the big picture the animals we eat aren’t even that ugly, where begin a good looking animal was once a positive thing because they the animals could procreate it now means we catch them, so I wonder if the future, the animals that survive will be evolution-ed / naturally selected to be freaking ugly assholes so that we let them stay in the wild undisturbed, if I was a rabbit that is what I’d do, or at least start working towards.

You know with twins there is usually, and by usually I mean on tv, one good one and one evil one, everybody feels bad for the good one cus the evil one messes up their life, but what about the evil one, all his street creed is out the window, *in the middle of a drug deal* 1: Yeah that’s right I need 5 kilos, here’s the money have you got the stuff? And the drug dealer says: Fuck that I saw you talking to the cops earlier, you’re dead to me *bang*, and the evil twin dies, all because the good twin felt compelled to visit a neighborhood watch meeting earlier in the day.

Of those the one I liked the best was the twins and was disappointed that it didn’t work out, I also like the premise of the ugly animals one.

But of course my intellectually property obsessed mind reminds me to assert ownership over them still by saying that I’ll eventually find a way to use em.

So what do you think, obvious duds (the fashion one is for sure)?

ps. Spell but not grammer checked.

Lafflines Open Mic Audio File

Friday, February 24th, 2006

It went really well yesterday. The crowd was somewhere around 80 plus or minus. I was surprised, I was tyring some things that I didn’t think would work and they did, though some didn’t go as well as planned too I don’t feel I bombed anything. Even some of the other comedians said I did very well, so that was cool.

If you’ve heard my first recording then 80-90% of this is new to you.

So listen for yourself (it’s a wma this time, as it happened it was easier for me to make it that)

So as always your feedback is welcome.
